Live To Run Trail

Live To Run Trail

Recently I was re-reading a blog I wrote at the inception of Live To Run Trail (L2RT). It was both nice to reflect on where we came from and also to have a proud moment of where we are now.  L2RT has always been a passion project and we have such a talented team working behind the scenes.

At it’s heart we are a group of friends who enjoy running together and having that as our main theme and ideal has guaranteed it’s success over the past few years.

I will never forget the first meeting we had with Intelligro our longstanding sponsor.  We were definitely green (so Intelligro seemed apt) but had a shared vision of a social run club, free for members and led by talented coaches.

Today we have an established coaching team many of which have represented New Zealand in trail and mountain running or our local celebrities in their own right.  They bring the energy and the love of the trails every week.

On any given Thursday we will have from 50 to 80 people running together on the trails of Christchurch.  Our community links have broadened and strengthened with committee members actively engaged with local trail events such as Skedaddle, Race Tekapo and Crater Rim Ultra.  We have had organised adventures with Merrell and Wild Things, sausage sizzles supported by La Sportiva and Fenix and winter weekends in Craigieburn and Island Hills Station.

Looking to the future we want to grow our offering whilst continuing to stay true to our roots and our values.  L2RT continues to be a friendly and welcoming community for new and experienced runners and that was always the goal.
